Born and raised in Queens, Farouk didn’t play any organized team sports until high school. Not having an athletic background growing up early on, Farouk wanted to be involved in as many teams as he could during his high school years. He worked hard and focused on his weaknesses to turn them into strengths and spent countless hours in the gym to grow stronger. With all of his hard work, Farouk became a starter on his high school football team and eventually the captain. Farouk was also on the wrestling team, golf team and baseball team. He was always one of the smallest guys on the field, but he played like one of the biggest. After graduating, Farouk found High Intensity Training (HIT) as a way to fill the void of pushing himself both physically and mentally in the same way competitive sports did, and he hasn’t looked back since.
Farouk has embraced his love of HIT style workouts to effectively train his body and achieve new personal bests. In 2013, Farouk competed as an alternate on the Reebok CrossFit Games team which finished 5th place in the world. This experience continues to push Farouk to train hard and work to become an elite level athlete.
