Growing up just north of Boston, Jess has always had a love for movement and sports – from soccer, to figure skating, to lacrosse and dance. Jess was also a three-time captain of her basketball team at Trinity College in Connecticut, through which she discovered her passion for teaching and motivating (and training in the weight room). This led her to join the Teach For America corps in Houston, Texas where she taught 5th grade and 3rd grade before moving to New York to open up a school in East Harlem as a kindergarten teacher.
After six years in education in five different roles, Jess realized that although she was meant to teach, she was in the wrong setting. She decided to change careers in 2016 and began personal training and teaching boxing classes. Despite the difficulties that came along with changing her career, it has been one of the best decisions she has ever made, and she loves discussing her experience as a career changer with others who are debating switching up his/her own career path.
Instead of getting [FHIX]ated on attaining big goals, Jess believes that you should fall in love with the process of attaining your goals. She loves connecting with each individual in her classes and making sure every FHIX is both challenging and fun! She also hopes to bring all of her knowledge about health and wellness back into NYC schools in the near future because she misses all of her kids!
