Justin Flexen

Justin is a NASM certified personal trainer & corrective exercise specialist as well as an AFAA certified group fitness instructor with a background in theatre and dance. Justin’s fitness journey started at 8 years old when he would go running with his mom on the San Diego boardwalk. A SoCal boy at heart, Justin graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a theatre degree and danced professionally around the country before discovering his passion for fitness. Justin loves watching clients achieve their goals, grow stronger, and gain self-confidence.

When he’s not at Fhitting Room, Justin can be found teaching cycling at Flywheel. In addition, he has also presented at numerous fitness conventions across the country. Justin has been featured on Good Morning America, Fox5, Good Day New York and The Today Show.

1 First FHIX experience?

I had my first FHIX experience with Ben and Carlos and was instantly hooked! From that point on, it became part of my regular workout routine.

2 Who is your FHITspiration?

My mom. She was a dancer and a marathon runner and is the person who got me into fitness and healthy living at a very young age.

3 Personal theme song?

Basically anything by Rihanna

4 Celebrity doppelganger?

I’ve gotten Ryan Reynolds and Bobby Cannavale. Don’t see either but I’ll take it!

5 Favorite guilty pleasure?

Happy hour margaritas!

6 What is it about group fitness?

The music. The community. Most importantly, watching people grow stronger and build relationships.

7 Post workout snack?

Sweet potato fries.

Aries. Love reading my horoscope!

9 What did you want to be when you were growing up?

Baseball player (hated baseball), an actor (I was so shy!), Firefighter (because I thought there were Dalmatians involved). Luckily, fitness found me!

Mimosas and Netflix in my jammies!

11 Best advice you ever received?

The universe will never give you more than you can handle.

Pull-ups. I love to hate them but they’re always so challenging!

I was the second person in my family to graduate college (after my mom).
