Growing up in upstate New York, Mat always played ice hockey in divisions higher than other kids his age. Playing competitive sports instilled the hard work and the competitive nature Mat still thrives on today. Being a true athlete all his life, Mat played Division 2 lacrosse at Franklin Pierce University where he majored in Sports and Recreation Management. This is where he realized that fitness was his true calling. In college, Mat trained his teammates and friends, helping them improve their overall athleticism. After he graduated, Mat began working at NYSC where he was mentored by one of the best. Mat gained a lot of experience training clients with many types of backgrounds and fitness levels; it was there he really grew as a trainer. After living in Boston for a couple of years, Mat moved back to New York to grow his love of fitness not only with personal training but group classes. Over the years, Mat has come to love the energy of group fitness and the fact that he can push a group of athletes to work towards a common goal of becoming stronger and more fit together.
When Mat isn’t teaching classes or training clients, he is working on building the best version of himself. He is constantly looking for ways to continue his education on movement and stay on top of industry trends. Mat does CrossFit and enjoys the challenges it offers him. When he is not pushing himself to the fullest, he enjoys traveling, relaxing and watching either the New York Rangers or the Giants!
