Born and raised in Augusta, Georgia, Melody grew up dancing and developed a passion for performing. While instructing at the dance studio she grew up dancing at, Melody gained a sense of movement and learned to cue movements for others to understand. Melody attended college at The University of Arizona in Tucson where she studied Arts, Media and Entertainment and minored in Dance. Melody was also a member of the University’s Black n’ Blue Hip Hop Crew and performed at basketball games and other events around Arizona. After performing for over eighteen years, Melody felt her passion for dance fading and needed to find new ways to remain active. She became a somewhat avid yogi and self-proclaimed gym-rat. Over time Melody started incorporating weight lifting and HIT into her workouts, and she fell in love with the feeling of getting stronger. Melody moved to New York City after graduating and quickly realized desk life was not for her. After less than two years in a marketing career, she left her 9-to-5 to pursue a career in fitness. Melody believes that physical and mental strength go hand-in-hand. Her goal is to help people feel confident both in the studio and in their own day-to-day lives.
When Melody isn’t swinging kettlebells, she’s probably exploring New York City, trying on phenomenal outfits, snapping dressing room selfies or taking a dance class.

1 First FHIX experience?
My first FHIXperience was in April 2014 with Julia. I had just interviewed to work at TFR, so I felt like I needed to physically prove myself. I think it was the hardest I’d worked out in my life to that point. I had the world’s cutest badass encouraging me and I remember thinking “wow, I need to be a part of this.” And now I’m so happy to be able to say that I am!
2 Who is your FHITspiration?
Hilary Swank circa Million Dollar Baby. This photo from Vanity Fair March 2005 was the first photo that made me realize I wanted to be strong. I also admire a lot of athletic dancers.

Feeding myself spoonfuls of crunchy peanut butter straight from the jar while listening to The Life of Pablo.

It’s the energy! I like to pump up other people, and other people pump me up. In group fitness, you’re surrounded by people looking to better themselves; there’s FHITspiration everywhere you look!
