FHIX Format

Our unique FHIX® workouts integrate five essential building blocks to deliver optimal results.

Functional Movements 

Functional training utilizes movements performed in life’s daily activities, such as walking, bending, lifting and climbing stairs. Our workouts will emphasize many fundamental movements, such as squatting, pressing, jumping, lunging and pulling, upon which more complex functional movements are built, training your body for everyday life, not events. You’ll notice the beneFHITs in all you do.

Strength Training

Strength training builds muscle, and muscle tension and density give a body a toned look. Strength training elicits hormonal responses that build up skeletal tissue, helping stave off osteoporosis and making carbohydrate processing more efficient. Strength training also burns more calories than cardio alone by causing the body to go into repair mode after exercise, and muscle tissue burns more calories than non-muscle tissue. So building muscle increases your metabolic rate, burning more calories even at rest.


High Intensity Intervals

High Intensity Intervals or “all-out” effort intervals that push your heart rate to about 90 percent of its maximum, followed by active recovery, challenge your body more than moderately intense cardiovascular exercise. This type of training is harder on your body, so your body’s recovery requires more energy, increasing your metabolic rate. High intensity interval training has also been proven very effective at increasing cardiovascular health, increasing production of human growth hormone, which encourages your body to build lean muscle mass, and increasing the body’s work capacity. The net effect of HIT: better results in less time.

Total Body Focus

Total body focus with compound movements, those engaging two or more different joints, fully stimulates entire muscle groups and achieves extra muscle activity, which means your body burns more calories.

Highly Varied Exercises

Highly varied exercises prevent fitness plateaus. Because of the human body’s tremendous ability to adapt, the more fit we become, the better able our bodies are to handle the same level of exercise. Thus, our bodies burn fewer calories, our metabolism decreases and our progress stalls over time. By delivering a different FHIXperience each day, featuring highly varied exercises and equipment, you will continuously progress and achieve new personal bests.

Signature FHIX: 50min

Signature FHIX (Functional High Intensity Mix) integrates five essential building blocks to deliver optimal results: functional movements, strength training, high intensity intervals, total body focus and highly varied exercises.

FHIXtreme: 50min

FHIXtreme takes our Signature FHIX to the next level. MUST BE AN EXPERIENCED FHIXER (must attend at least 5 Signature FHIX classes before signing up for FHIXtreme). Must be proficient at using kettlebells (Russian & American swings, the clean & press, figure 8’s), doing plyometrics and running. If you require modifications, please sign up for our Signature FHIX instead. For your safety and to maintain the advanced skill level of FHIXtreme classes, registration is subject to trainer approval.

FHITpit FHIX: 50min

Everything you love about our Signature FHIX or FHIXtreme classes but in a smaller class setting with a single trainer. Class is named after our original “FHITpit” studio located on the lower level at our Flatiron location.

Future FHIX Kids Class: 50min

Future FHIX classes deliver multiple beneFHITs to kids while making FHITness fun. Like all Fhitting Room classes, one-on-one attention from our FHITpros will help personalize the experience for your kid(s), ensuring proper movement technique is learned and scaling options are offered to meet the needs of all skill levels. Classes will utilize bodyweight exercises, agility drills, plyometrics and more to help kids improve overall conditioning, cardiovascular endurance and build strength. Future FHIX classes will not utilize heavy weight loads unsafe for this age group.

Future FHIX classes are 50 minutes and have the same highly engaged, community-driven, fun group exercise environment as our Signature FHIX classes for adults. Your kids will feel challenged but successful regardless of gender or fitness level, and they’ll reap many proven beneFHITs of fitness in youth.

Etiquette + Policies

We take pride in treating our FHIXers (clients) like part of our FHIT family. To help everyone get the best possible FHIX®, please read our class etiquette, waitlist and cancellation policies, and rules to live FHIT® by. 

Make getting FHIT easy

Create a Fhitting Room account online before you come to class, so you can focus on your FHIX® rather than boring paperwork.

Spot Booking

Once you choose a class, you’ll be asked to select your starting spot. This is the assigned number (located on the ceiling of our studios) where you’ll begin your workout. When/if the class transitions for different segments of the workout such as a circuit, relay or partner workout, you’ll travel from this starting location but will return back to your same number for the cool down and any other segments of class when prompted by our FHITpros.

Despite what a few of our frequent FHIXers might think (made obvious by the excitement when they snag “their” favorite spot) our FHITpros instruct, cue, watch and cater to every spot equally. With classes capped at 24 FHIXers and with two FHITpros in every class exceeding 12, each spot will receive personal attention no matter where its located in the room. So, if you like the front row center, go for it, if you prefer to be along side our steel wall or towards the back of the class, be our guest. Our FHITpros will come to you if and when they are needed or maybe just for fun and extra motivation!

Cancellation policy 

There is no charge to your account if you cancel a reservation by 5pm the day before your scheduled FHIX. If you cancel after 5pm the day before your scheduled FHIX you will forfeit your class credit. To cancel a class, please log into your online account and click the cancel button or call The Fhitting Room, and our staff will gladly assist you. Please note, you must speak with one of our FHIT team members live; voicemail messages left after the close of business for a morning class will not be honored.

Supercharged Monthly Package holders will be assessed a cancellation fee of $20 per incidence for any late cancellation or no show.

Waitlist policy

If you are unable to get FHIT in a class you desire because it is fully booked, we highly recommend putting yourself on the waitlist. You must purchase a class package before you can reserve a waitlist spot. If you don’t receive a spot in your desired class, a class credit will remain in your account for future use; class credits are not refundable.

If a spot becomes available in a FHIX for which you have been waitlisted before our 5pm reservation window closes, you will automatically be enrolled. You will receive an email confirming your enrollment into the class from the wait list. Please note, we assume you want to take every FHIX you are waitlisted for. If you are no longer interested in a class for which you are on the waitlist, you must remove yourself from the waitlist (online or by calling the studio and speaking with someone live) or you risk being automatically enrolled and charged whether or not you attend.

If a spot that you have been waitlisted for opens after 5pm the night before class, we will email and/or call you and all other waitlisted clients to inform you of the available spot. We will not enroll anyone until we speak with someone directly. When it is after our 5pm cancellation window, the first client we speak with live will be enrolled. Spots that become available after 5pm will also be released for booking online if we are unable to reach anyone on the waitlist at the time the spot becomes available.

We do not offer the option of swapping FHIXes. If you are scheduled for one FHIX and then receive a spot from the waitlist for a different FHIX, you will be charged for both FHIXes unless you cancel one of them before the 5pm cancellation window.

While our FHIXers do love The Fhitting Room, there are times life inevitably gets in the way and spots become available from a no show at class time. If you’re in the ‘hood, you’re welcome to drop by and check with our FHIT Relations Managers to see if you can snag a last minute spot for a FHIX. Please be aware that any waitlisted clients physically present at the start of class time will take priority over drop in clients in the event that a class spot becomes available due to a no show. Your account will be charged upon confirmation of a spot in class.

Be prompt

Please arrive 5 minutes before each class and 10 minutes early for your first class to get acquainted with The Fhitting Room®. If you are running late, please call the studio to let us know. If you are running late and we have not heard from you by the start of class, any waitlisted FHIXers or drop-ins who are physically present may take your place in class. We do not allow FHIXers into the studio more than 5 minutes after the class start time.

Secure your personal belongings

Please lock your bags and other personal belongings in our digital lockers before entering the studio or place small belongings in the cubbies located inside the studio. We are not responsible for lost or missing personal items.

No phoning, no texting, no whining

Focus and High Intensity Training go hand in hand. Use of mobile devices is not permitted inside the fitness studio as this will take away from your workout and will be a distraction to others. If necessary, please leave your device with one of our FHIT® Relationship Managers. And, please no whining inside the studio. Heavy breathing, even panting is welcome, but there’s no whining in HIT. If you have any questions, ask away; we want to see you FHIT, not broken.

Go green

We are committed to being green, so we invite you to fill up your own water bottle at our complimentary water filling station. If you forget your water bottle and need water, you may purchase a bottle of water at the front desk. Need a hair tie? No problem! We have fab green hair ties at the front desk for your convenience.

Germs, yuck

Good hygiene is important!  If you are sick, don’t schedule a class; if you have a sick child at home, please wash your hands before entering the studio, and please do not bring your sick child to wait for you in our reception area. Your classmates will thank you as will we.

Purchase & refund policy 

Classes and trainer assignments are subject to change. Pricing is subject to change without notice. All class packages are non-transferable and non-refundable; there are no exceptions. Single classes expire 31 days from date of purchase. 5 class series packages expire 3 months from date of purchase. 10 class series packages expire 6 months from the date of purchase. 20 class series packages expire 1 year from the date of purchase. Supercharged Monthly packages expire 30 days from date of purchase. Class participants must be 16 years of age or older unless otherwise noted. Unused retail merchandise may be returned for a refund or exchanged within 7 days of purchase.

Age Restriction 

To be eligible for class you must be 16 years or older; however clients under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver in order to take class.

Waiver & release policy 

By signing up for a Fhitting Room® class, you acknowledge that you have voluntarily chosen to participate in a program of intense physical exercise. You further acknowledge that The Fhitting Room® strongly recommends that you consult with your physician prior to commencing any classes. You acknowledge that you are fully informed of the strenuous nature of this exercise program and the possibility of adverse physiological occurrences including, but not limited to, abnormal blood pressure, fainting, heart attack or death. You assume all risk for your health and well being, and fully release and hold harmless for any responsibility, cost or damages The Fhitting Room Holding Company LLC d/b/a The Fhitting Room and all its wholly owned subsidiaries, its trainers, members and employees. You acknowledge that your agreement to this release applies to each time you visit The Fhitting Room®. You hereby acknowledge that you, and any minor under your care, have voluntarily chosen to participate. You assume all risk for your health and well being, and that of any minor under your care, and fully release The Fhitting Room Holding Company LLC d/b/a The Fhitting Room and all its wholly owned subsidiaries from all liability.

Fitness is intensity dependent, not time dependent. Our music is motivating, our trainers are expert and encouraging, and classes are spirited, challenging and fun.

Dress Appropriately

We ask that our members wear sneakers as our FHIX is a combination of weights, squatting, lifting, and jumping.
