5 Ways to Fit HIIT Workouts Into Your Routine

Fitness • April 25, 2016

Excuses, excuses, excuses. Having ‘no time’ is the most common justification we hear for skipping a workout. Well, we are calling your bluff! While we’re all busy managing our priorities and hustling around, it is still possible to find time to work out, and you deserve to spend some precious time on yourself.

Think about it, do you make time for television, social media, and happy hour? Cutting back on the time you carve out for such activities can create time in your schedule for a fun, quick, and efficient workout!

Read on for a few practical tips on how to start fitting fitness into your day-to-day life.

1. Work it into your normal routine.
Think about what you do day-to-day and get creative. That may mean something as simple as squatting instead of bending at the waist to pick a dirty towel off the floor. While you’re at it, why not do five more? You can do tricep extensions with a jar of tomato sauce before you pour it into the pot. When you consider all of the small opportunities over the course of a day, there is potential to squeeze in a cumulative 30 minutes of exercise.

2. HIT it hard.
When you’re short on time, our #goFHIX workouts can be your source for HIT workouts on the go. Most of them are 20 minutes or less and give you that feel good sweatiness that you have come to know and love in class. The key in HIT workouts is staying focused and maintaining a high level of intensity throughout the session so that you benefit from all those after burn effects. For a fast and furious workout idea, check out Fhitting Room’s #goFHIX HIIT Workout.

3. Socialize on the move.
Next time a colleague or friend suggests meeting for lunch, dinner or drinks, counter with an active alternative to encourage a healthier lifestyle while catching up and having fun. FHIT friends make some of the best friends you can have. Trust us on this one.

4. Work your commute.
Take the subway to work? Walk just one subway stop further before you hop on. On the way out, take the steps two-at-a-time. Try to stand on the train without holding on to a bar, squeeze your abs and glutes so you don’t collide with fellow passengers when the train leaves a station. Now that spring is here, take advantage of the beautiful weather outside and consider using a Citi-bike as your mode of transportation.

5. HIT it with a friend.
Having a workout buddy keeps you accountable – it also provides some healthy competition! Check out Fhitting Room’s #goFHIX HIIT Partner Workout for moves you can do with a friend anywhere.
